Indian equity indices ended on weak note on January 27 with Nifty below 22,850. At close, the Sensex was down 824.29 points or 1.08 percent at 75,366.17, and the Nifty was down 263.05 points or 1.14 percent at 22,829.15.
The Indian stock market started the Budget week on a negative note and ended lower for the second consecutive session on January 27 amid selling across the sectors.
HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Hindalco Industries, Shriram Finance were among the top losers on the Nifty, while gainers included ICICI Bank, Britannia Industries, M&M, HUL and SBI.
BSE Midcap index fell 2.7 percent and small cap index slipped 3.5 percent.
The Indian stock markets experienced a downward trend for the second session on Monday, affected by multiple factors including poor corporate performance, US trade policy concerns, and losing foreign investor withdrawals.
